Jewish Community Services and Programs

Jewish Community Services is the social services division of the Jewish Federation of Northwest Indiana. Staff and volunteers work together to provide on everything from assisting the needy to secure food, shelter, utility assistance to providing weekly hot lunch and entertainment for senior citizens, group outings for active adults and vibrant youth events and social services opportunities. In addition, JCS operates year-round daily programs for children ages 2 to 12 through K'Ton Ton Preschool Programs and JCY Day Camp.

We service the needs of every age group. Our Prime Timers offers active adults fun, and sometimes educational, outings. Adult Friendship Club offers freshly prepared luncheons and entertainment on Monday and Wednesday each week. Teens connect to social services and social events with our NOAR youth group.

  • Volunteer Aida Nozick prepares meals for an area men's shelter.

  • Prime Timers include adults age 55-plus who take day trips to Midwest hot-spots.

  • Adult Friendship Club Holiday Luncheons are much enjoyed.

  • JCY Campers assist the Calumet Area Humane Society after a fire.

  • NOAR Teens have fun at a hayride.

  • A teen delegation from our Partnership Region in the Western Galilee comes for a visit.

  • Our annual retreat in the Wisconsin Dells is an excellent four-day trip.

Many of the adults who participate in our varied programs also volunteer to assist others. They collect clothing and outwear for children at Chanukah. In the fall, they pack and deliver backpacks with school supplies for those who can't afford them. In addition, we join with Maot Chitim to deliver groceries to needy Jewish families during the holiday seasons.

There's no end to the good we can do. Your gifts of time and dollars to the Jewish Federation literally change the course of peoples' lives.

Why Federation

We are part of a worldwide network of organizations that sustain the Jewish community today and for future generations.

At Home

An economic downtown puts communities in jeopardy, but Federation prioritizes local needs to help people make ends meet, feed families, and pay mortgages. We're making a difference. And you can too.

In Israel

Northwest Indiana has built a strong Partnership with communities in the Western Galilee region. Community members visit each other to share ideas about art, economy environment, music, politics and more.

Around the World

We work with global partners to help provide basic human services and create connections that help sustain and offer hope to the weakest of our people.
