SKIP: Give Your Child the Gift of Israel
One day sooner than you expect, your child will become a teenager. A trip to Israel is one of the most important formative experiences in your child's Jewish development. "Send A Kid to Israel Program," known as SKIP can help make that trip possible.
SKIP unites families, congregations, and the Jewish Federation of Northwest Indiana in making your child's Israel experience possible.
How SKIP Works
Students enrolled in Religious School in Northwest Indiana and who are in third through sixth grades are eligible for initial enrollment in SKIP.
Each year, until the student graduates high school, contingent upon continued participation in a Jewish education program approved by your congregation, three partners contribute to your child's SKIP account. Parents and synagogues or temples make a joint contribution of $150. This amount is matched annually by the Jewish Federation to total $300.
The SKIP Fund will accrue interest on an annual basis and will be managed by the Jewish Federation. You will receive an annual report of your SKIP account(s). Additional monies may be added (but not matched) to the fund at any time.
Travel to Israel
Students may use their SKIP money for an approved Israel program (*including Birthright) in high school or up to until their 24th birthday when the program expires. Unused money is returned to its source: The Families, Congregations, or Federation.
How to Enroll
Enrollments are arranged only through participating congregations. Further information is available from your congregation or from the Jewish Federation.
